Postdoctoral Fellow - Neuroscience

The position

We seek a highly motivated and productive Postdoctoral fellow to perform research in the area of neuroprotection for ocular diseases. The purpose of the intended postdoctoral work is 3-fold: 1) improve support system for in vitro studies of neurons, 2) discover novel gelling systems for drug delivery and 3) scale existing or new delivery systems for application in mouse models of ocular disease. Given that the research will involve both materials science work and investigation of cellular and in vivo systems, it is best done as a collaboration between the Kelley and Jeanne labs. Bob Kelley (PTDU-Drug Delivery) and Marion Jeanne (gRED-Neuroscience) are the co-mentors for the project.

Who you are

Applicants should have a PhD degree in Biomaterials science or a related field. Since neurodegeneration is a complex biological process, we are open to candidates with a background in neuroscience, ophthalmology or stem cell biology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in a wide range of materials science and cellular biology techniques, such as recombinant protein and hydrogel engineering, primary cell culture, functional assay development and fluorescent microscopy. Experience with diverse in vivo pre-clinical models is a plus.
