Description of Work Unit
The Horticulture and Landscape Architecture department strives to discover, apply, and disseminate knowledge and technology while developing future leaders in the state, the nation, and the world. Through hands-on experiential learning in each of our three majors, Environmental Horticulture, Horticulture, and Landscape Architecture, we encourage human engagement with the landscape and demonstrate our focus to solve problems for people, agriculture, and the environment through scholarship and creativity fostered by teamwork and individual diversity.

Position Summary
  • Manage, coordinate and implement research projects in postharvest physiology lab
  • Design and conduct research projects independently
  • Data analysis
  • Writing manuscripts, scientific and technical reports
  • Demonstrate research works in outreach programs to students, consumers and growers
  • Present research findings in conferences and symposiums
  • Plan strategically and collaborate with faculty and researchers to accomplish the research ideas in postharvest physiology.
  • Mentor graduate, undergraduate and entry level workers in the lab
Required Job Qualifications
  • Completed PhD in Horticultural Sciences or related sciences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and to work independently
  • Demonstrated knowledge in state-of-the-art analytical techniques in chemistry and food sciences
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly work in food sciences
  • Demonstrated the ability to supervise research staffs, working effectively in team environment
  • Evidence of collaborative research with faculty and researchers
  • Evidence of peer reviewed publications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Experience in postharvest physiology such as storage methods and packaging in specialty crops
  • Experiences in food composition analysis
  • Experience with analytical methods in GC-MS, HPLC and spectrophotometry.
  • Experiences in data analysis and writing manuscripts
