About the Opportunity

Summary and Responsibilities

The Advanced Drug Delivery Research (ADDRes) lab in the Chemical Engineering Department at Northeastern University is seeking a research technician to support research in the areas of drug delivery and tissue engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with students and scientists in the lab to study the impact of lipids in diet and drug delivery systems on oral compound absorption, and to develop engineered intestinal and retinal models.

The research technician will aid in the management of lab resources. The research technician will also conduct in vitro experiments, including a. studying kinetic parameters and processes relevant to drug absorption, and b. assembling and analyze 3D and microfluidic gut- and retina-on chip models. Job duties will include:

  • Design and conduct experiments, and analyze and interpret experimental data
  • Meticulously document laboratory work, procedures, and results
  • Develop and write reports
  • Maintain cell and organoid cultures
  • Schedule, attend and participate in research meetings/seminars and journal club
  • Manage the lab’s website and social media presence
  • Order lab supplies
  • Organize lab protocols

About our lab: The Advanced Drug Delivery Lab applies engineering principles to develop relevant models of health and disease and enable effective delivery of therapeutics. We focus largely on advancing intestinal and retinal tissue engineering and drug delivery. We work in a supportive team environment with trainees ranging from high school students to postdoctoral associates and research scientists.

Qualifications

A BS, BA, or equivalent in a science or engineering discipline, preferably chemical engineering, bioengineering, chemistry, or biology, is required. Strong communication (oral and written) and organization skills, excellent time management, and laboratory experience (preferably including cell culture) are essential. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with undergraduate and graduate students. All candidates should describe how they support a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment inside and outside the laboratory.
