Responsibilities

Screening:
Make admission decisions from highly competitive applicant pools. Assess applicants for motivation, initiative, leadership potential, work/life experience, extracurricular activities, socioeconomic status, disability, and educational/personal hardship. Using extensive knowledge of college/school/department requirements and applicant pool, assess the applicants' overall record and experience for final admissions determination and recommendation.

Program Management:
Organize, analyze and interpret admissions data. Assist management with the design, plan and implementation of admissions programs. Manage or facilitate training of admissions readers and alumni interviewers.

Advising:
Provide substantive information and advising on admissions requirements, prerequisite courses school/college programs and curricula. Articulates policies specific to the Undergraduate Program and the university. Using knowledge of department policies and resources, serves as a resource and provides information and advice to students and other parties. Responds to inquiries from prospective students regarding entrance requirements, application procedures, etc.

Outreach:
Support Admissions team in managing student and alumni outreach efforts. Represent Berkeley Undergraduate program to prospective students, current students, and alumni through large and small format presentations or discussions.

Articulation:
Work with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions Articulation Officer to manage the process of developing articulation agreements between Berkeley Haas and colleges/universities. Documents and communicates transfer course equivalencies. Makes initial determination of transferability of articulated and in most cases, unarticulated course work within established faculty guidelines. Analyze effectiveness of recruitment strategies. Produce admission statistics, special and annual reports, and program evaluations.
Professional Learning and Growth
Embraces the principle of being a "student always" by engaging in opportunities for training, workshops, seminars, continuing education pertinent to the position, or at the suggestion of the supervisor. Actively contributes to a team environment that fosters and promotes a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within the unit and at Haas. Engages in ongoing education to promote diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging by completing University sponsored certifications & training sessions (Ie: MEP Workshop, Implicit Bias Certification, LinkedIn Learning workshops, and other workshops & seminars offered by the University or Haas, as they are made available) or by engaging in external seminars & resources related to DEIB. Exemplifies Haas' four Defining Leadership Principles: (1) Question the status quo; (2) Confidence without attitude; (3) Students always; and (4) Beyond yourself.
Required Qualifications
Higher education admissions experience. Experience interacting with students, staff, and faculty in diverse college or university environments. Skills to work with objectivity and discretion and sensitivity dealing with urgent and confidential situations. Ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of information. Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to make and support admissions recommendations and decisions in a highly competitive admissions environment and to efficiently review large numbers of applications on time and with solid judgment. Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures to prospective students and the public. Skills in project management and ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines in a busy environment. Skills in problem identification, reasoning, and ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrates cross-cultural communication skills. Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students, team members and external clients. Exemplifies Haas' four Defining Leadership Principles: (1) Question the status quo; (2) Confidence without attitude; (3) Students always; and (4) Beyond yourself. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in a business, organization or public university setting.

Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of or can easily learn, University-specific computer application programs and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Experience or knowledge of Slate Technolutions. Spanish language skills are desirable.
Salary & Benefits

This is a 100% full-time (40-hrs a week), monthly paid, exempt career position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $79,455.
