Title: Post-Doctoral Scholar
Salary Range: Minimum of $50,000, or commensurate with experience
Shift: Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, with some nights and weekends possible due to experimentation.
Required education: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree
Required experience: All applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Required License: N/A
Preferred Education/experience: Research experience in the field of pulmonary disease with a focus on acute lung injury, inflammation, ventilator-induced lung injury, mechanobiology, or epithelial biology. Experience with cell culture, molecular biology, animal models of lung injury, inflammation, epithelial biology, mechanical ventilation, and pulmonary physiology are desirable.
Job Summary: A postdoctoral scholar position is immediately available to study lung injury and repair in the lab of Dr. Christopher M. Waters, Ph.D., in The Department of Physiology at The University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. We are seeking outstanding scientists with Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degrees. The ideal candidate will have research experience in the field of pulmonary disease with a focus on acute lung injury, inflammation, ventilator-induced lung injury, mechanobiology, or epithelial biology, but outstanding candidates with experience in other areas will be considered.
Responsibilities of the position include working with Dr. Christopher M. Waters, Ph.D., to conduct NIH-sponsored research on mechanisms of lung injury and repair involving apoptosis signal-regulating kinase-1 (ASK1), Rho kinase (ROCK), and inflammasome signaling; designing and conducting experimental studies within an interdisciplinary team; and organizing, analyzing, and presenting experimental data. Experience with cell culture, molecular biology, animal models of lung injury, inflammation, epithelial biology, mechanical ventilation, and pulmonary physiology are desirable. All applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
