Full Job Description

Job Description: Sussex County Community College (SCCC) seeks a highly motivated individual to recruit and assist prospective students with the college’s registration process. The College Admissions Specialist will represent SCCC at recruitment events while developing relationships with school districts and other community partners. This individual will develop a working knowledge of College mission, programs, and services and effectively share that knowledge in a variety of settings.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Intentionally focuses on facilitating a culture of “caring regard” at the college.

2. Establishes a rapport and productive working relationship with area high school guidance counselors and other district personnel in order to market SCCC to area high school students.

3. Establishes a rapport and productive working relationship with community partners.

4. Represents SCCC at area high schools, college fairs, college nights and other off-campus events as appropriate. Coordinates activities with all available College resources, including financial aid, faculty members and other appropriate parties.

5. Maintains a high profile in the community to use all occasions as a chance to promote the college.

6. Plans and participates in recruitment-based events for prospective students, including, but not limited to, open houses, college fairs, and career/life fairs.

7. Gathers and analyzes data pertaining to county college-bound populations; monitors trends and results and reports as appropriate.

8. Provides and receives cross-training in the Student Affairs areas, and assists, as possible, with the diverse functions involved in admissions, advising, financial aid, and registration.

9. Helps to oversee the admissions recruiting plan.

10. Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND DISPOSITIONS:

A deep concern for others and the contributions they make to an organization.

2. Ability to work weekends and evenings is required.

3. Possesses both polished and inviting interpersonal and presentation skills.

4. Possesses as disposition that genuinely enjoys all people.

5. Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.

6. Experience/Ability to work with diverse populations.

7. An understanding of, and passion for, higher education.

HOURS: 20-25 hours per week.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour
