ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Dr. Christine Lary’s research group at the Roux Institute and the Bouve School of Health Sciences at Northeastern University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow in musculoskeletal genomics and aging.
The individual in this position will use innovative approaches in bioinformatics and epidemiology to study the molecular mechanisms of diseases of aging. Active projects include 1) bone changes that precede dementia diagnosis and the underlying molecular mechanisms; 2) pharmacogenetics and microRNA-mediated mechanisms of beta blocker use to prevent postmenopausal bone loss; and 3) collaborative projects with Roux Institute affiliated investigators.
This position will involve the use of advanced methods in data science and epidemiology, including machine learning methods. Molecular epidemiological analyses will include genome-wide association studies (GWAS), functional data analyses such as RNA-seq, multiomic integration, and pathway and network analyses. Epidemiological approaches will include pharmacoepidemiology, causal inference, and Mendelian Randomization. The individual in this position will write manuscripts, present work at scientific conferences, and communicate with collaborators.
Credentials and Qualifications: MD or PhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Genetics or related field.
- Strong programming skills in R or related statistical software
- Research background in biostatistics, statistical genetics, computational biology, or genomics
- Experience in one or more of the following: genome wide association studies (GWAS), whole genome or whole exome sequencing, RNA-seq, Mendelian Randomization, pharmacoepidemiology, causal inference, multiomic integration, pathway and network analysis
