Department Summary
Research and innovation are integral parts of the Mechanical Engineering department at The University of North Texas, a Carnegie Tier One research institution. The department offers state-of-the-art facilities ranging from a variety of instructional laboratories to research facilities including the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) laboratory. The CFD lab develops numerical methods for deterministic and stochastic simulations in a wide range of areas including modeling and simulations of ocean vehicle dynamics in turbulent free surface flows in presence of random waves.   
 
 UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba. 
Position Summary
As a part of the project funded by ONR (Office of Naval Research), the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) lab in the Mechanical Eng. Department at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking for Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop mathematical models for ocean vehicle responses in random waves using the concept of conditional stochastic processes.
The position is for one year, but it can be extended to three years depending on the productivity and funding status. US. Citizenship is required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Solid background in probability theory as well as Gaussian and non-Gaussian stochastic processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience of CFD modeling and simulations
  • Familiar with series approximating probability distribution functions
  • Familiar with wave theories
  • Graduate or post-graduate experience at a U.S. Academic Institution or National Laboratory
