Responsibilities*

The Kresge Hearing Research Institute is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in research.  The Kim laboratory studies the molecular and cellular basis of neuronal development, function and disease using state of the art techniques.  Successful candidate will be involved in the management of transgenic mouse colony and genotyping (PCR). This includes performing PCRs and other tests on animals. The candidate will be also involved in the management of the laboratory. Direct involvement in research projects.  Prior laboratory experience is highly recommended.

Required Qualifications*

  • Minimum 1 year rexperience
  • Experience in handling of mice.
  • Familiarity with laboratory maintenance and organization.
  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple research projects simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, quantitative PCR, cloning

Research Lab Tech Senior Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in biology (cell/molecular desirable).

Research Lab Tech Intermediate Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with 2-year lab experience (cell/molecular desirable).

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience and knowledge on tissue culture, and histological staining highly desirable.

  • Western blotting experience desirable.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
