The Opportunity

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applicants for two (2) faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-earning) or associate professor (tenured). These faculty will be members of the core Computer Engineering program (CpE) at ECE. The research areas of interest include: 1) Digital physical design and CAD for VLSI, and/or deeply-scaled CMOS digital physical design, optimization, and layout/tapeout, and post-CMOS computing devices beyond the transistor, such as spintronic/memristive/non-volatile devices. Artificial Intelligence hardware and ambient-powered hardware are also in-scope for research of advanced hardware design and optimizations; 2) computing and cyber-physical systems and devices for space including FPGAs, reliable embedded computing systems, and computing systems enabling adaptive hardware and robotic systems.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct impactful research and educate students (both undergraduate and graduate) in aforementioned areas of research. Establishing strong ties with industrial partners, both local and national, is of special interest.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned  Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Computer or Electrical Engineering or closely related disciplines by the start of the appointment. Applicants must also provide evidence of strong commitment to academic activities, including teaching, scholarly publications, and sponsored research.

To be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor upon hire, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record teaching, research, and service commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor.

Preferred Qualifications:

An exceptional record of scholarly research in one or more of the targeted technical areas is highly desirable.  A history of working with teams, especially ones that span multiple disciplines, is also preferred.
