The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) offers two exciting major programs with Bachelor of Science degrees. One in Health Services Administration (B.S.-HSA) and the other one in Health Informatics and Information Management (B.S.-HIIM). Both are certified or accredited by our professional bodies. We also offer three accredited high-quality master's degrees in Health Administration (MHA), the executive master program (eMHA), and Health Care Informatics (M.S.- HCI).

The Opportunity

The School of Global Health Management and Informatics (SGHMI) in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for three (3) 9-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer positions, anticipated to begin August 2023.

The selected candidates will contribute to SGHMI's mission by teaching a full-time academic load consisting of up to four courses per semester. The courses may include various topics in our undergraduate and graduate programs, including internship courses (both face-to-face and by web delivery).

The ideal candidates will be highly motivated and proficient in healthcare management or informatics.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must hold a master’s degree (for instructor) or a terminal degree (for lecturer rank) in Health Administration, Health Economics, Health Policy, Public Health, Public Affairs or a related health field or discipline from an accredited institution, by the start of the appointment.

All candidates that wish to be considered to teach in the HIIM/HCI programs MUST possess one of the following certifications: the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential, or the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

Preferred Qualifications

For those who wish to be considered for the HIIM/HCI programs, three years of professional experience in HIM, one year of academic experience teaching both face-to-face and web-based courses and at least one year experience either teaching or working with AHIMA ICD -10 are preferred.

For those who wish to teach in the HSA programs, candidates should have experience teaching large online classes and mentoring students. HSA  candidates should possess competencies through education, teaching, research, and/or work experience in one or more of the following content areas: health economics, healthcare finance, health management and leadership, health policy, civic engagement, population health, epidemiology, health law, and public health. Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellence in web-based courses and course development for online teaching.
