The Team 

82VS was launched in 2020 to allow company builders to efficiently launch new asset-centric companies leveraging Alloy’s platforms, services, and company creation infrastructure. To date 82VS has founded nine asset-focused companies developing new medicines across the areas of oncology, immunology, ophthalmology, neurology, and rare diseases. Our current companies are developing antibody, antisense oligonucleotide, and TCR mimic therapeutics, but we are also working actively to build out multimodal therapeutics and expand our delivery capabilities (e.g., LNPs, peptides).

We Discover

We are a venture studio leveraging Alloy’s pre-competitive drug discovery platforms. Established drug discovery, scientific, and lab resources allow entrepreneurs to start their first experiment on day one.

We Partner

We partner with academics, entrepreneurs, target-rich companies, pharma, and VC. We lead with our drug discovery work, helping others advance targets of interest.

We Build

We build asset-focused companies while continuing to incorporate new modalities and drug discovery platforms accessible throughout the Alloy ecosystem. Alloy creates new platforms and services on demand to support individual new companies if needed.

We Industrialize

We industrialize repeatable company launch processes across legal, HR, finance, operations, and marketing to minimize startup time and allow scientists to focus on the science.

The Role

As a Fellow, you will have exposure to biotechnology company building and investing. Fellows at Alloy Venture Studios will be exposed to all aspects of new company building including science, clinical translation, strategy, operations, and legal. The fellowship will be a part-time role of 10-15 hours per week for ~6 months. This fellowship will be based in the greater Boston area with fellows working remotely and with the Venture Studios team in Waltham, MA. This role is for PhD or MD candidates in later years of grad school, or Postdocs across the biotechnology ecosystem. This role requires a tremendous passion for advancing science into medicines for patients. 

This role will report to a Venture Associate with autonomy owning various stakeholders, projects, and initiatives in a dynamic start-up environment while keeping up the pace of 82VS. This is you!

How You’ll Drive Impact 

    Explore: lead a deep dive into area of interest for the Venture Studios team, ideally culminating in an investment or company build recommendationInvestigate: explore new opportunities with the team by conducting science diligencing including target diligence, researching disease pathology, identify clinical need, reading scientific papers, and assessing the competitionProblem-Solve: take the initiative to identify and tackle new challenges; apply logic, resourcefulness, and imagination to develop creative and effective solutions to problemsCommunicate: convey complex scientific information into compelling stories for a broad set of audiences from domain experts to non-scientistsLearn: participate in training opportunities conducted by the venture team on topics such as term sheets, cap tables, financial forecasting, and more

Desired Multipliers  

    Biotech-focused PhD, MD, or similar in progress or postdoctoral research in progress is required; preference to those in later years of their programsAbility to work onsite in Waltham, MA every MondayCommitment of ~10-15 hours per week; these hours will be flexible
