Position Summary:
 
UCI Graduate Division provides leadership on all graduate education matters. We work with all academic units on campus to ensure that scholars from all over the world can learn, teach, and conduct the highest caliber research while pursuing graduate or postdoctoral training. We promote academic integrity and greater understanding by supplying information, guidance, and support to the campus community and beyond. Our aim is to enhance the educational experience by engaging and leading on all matters related to graduate student life: academic progress and advocacy, fellowships, funding and financial support, diversity, employment, and professional development. The Graduate Division coordinates with other Graduate Divisions across the UC system to ensure high quality educational experiences and promotion of graduate education both system and state-wide.
 
The Business Systems Analyst role serves as the functional expert for the Technolutions Slate Client Resource Management Application and Review system and is responsible for the setup, maintenance, reporting and integrity of the Graduate Slate system. Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Independently resolves a wide range of admissions process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.

$71,300 - $85,650

Required:
 
  • Three to five years experience
  • Advanced degree in Business, Public Policy, Education or other related field, or Bachelor's degree plus six years related experience.
  • In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.
  • Expert knowledge of Federal student visa regulations and ability to independently interpret and analyze complex international transcripts and documents and translate the results to U.S. standards and requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture. Demonstrated experience with data collection techniques.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills to communicate decisions and complex policies and procedures with clarity. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Thorough knowledge and ability to work effectively with various computer program and databases including Slate, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint), and provide functional analysis and recommendations for system enhancements. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills.

 
Preferred:
 
  • Master’s or other advanced degree from an accredited university, with a major in higher education, student services/affairs, administration, counseling, or related field, and several years of progressively more complex experience in higher education.
  • Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures. Demonstrated substantial knowledge of UC Academic Affairs and UCI policies and procedures related to graduate education and graduate student admissions and enrollment including general trends and areas of concern which influence the directions of graduate administrations. Demonstrated knowledge of the functions and activities of campus administrative departments and academic programs. Demonstrated knowledge of Student Records and student billing systems.
