Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant Professor will manage the ongoing Telerehab for Aphasia (TERRA; P50 DC014664, PI Fridriksson, J.) clinical research trial. The purpose of TERRA is to compare aphasia therapy administered remotely to aphasia therapy administered in person. To this end, participants with aphasia undergo extensive therapy in addition to cognitive-linguistic assessments and a neuroimaging workup prior to therapy. The Research Assistant Professor will be responsible for facilitating participant recruitment, organizing treatment timelines, assisting the PI with supervising 2 treating clinicians (SLPs) and 2 other research associates, collecting neuroimaging data, data management, data analysis, and dissemination of research findings. Other responsibilities include the pursuit of external funding, assisting PI with supervision of graduate research assistants in the lab, and possibility of teaching one course each semester as needed.
Required Education and Experience
PhD in a field relevant to aphasia research (e.g., public health, communication sciences/disorders, psychology or related) plus at least 12 months months of relevant postdoctoral research experience by the start date of employment, as well as expertise with the following: SPSS/Matlab software; acquiring and analyzing MRI data, and quantitative/qualitative research methods; robust analytical skills; strong publication record; creative thinking; and effective communications skills.
