Medicine I Office of Research Convergent Research - FAA

Research Associate participates in planning, design, execution and management of biorepository projects. Engages in cardiovascular research in the College of Medicine Office of Research under the direction of the Biorepository Lab Supervisor. Participates in the execution of ongoing research projects. Participates in developing and implementing goals and objectives of biorepository studies. Participates in the day-to-day acquisition and processing of biospecimens. Collects, adjudicate and store relevant clinical data necessary for participant studies. Assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques and make recommendations for utilization. Assists in establishment of controls, criteria and research standards. Performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research. Coordinates biorepository activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students and laboratory research staff. Oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required

Master's degree

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
