Cancer Center Training and Education Program Administrator
Job Description
Job Summary
The Cancer Training and Education Program Administrator provides undergraduate and graduate program oversight while managing, assessing, updating, and implementing revised and new processes for the Purdue Center for Cancer Research (PCCR). In addition, there will be additional pipelines of trainees from high school and postdoctoral programs to develop for careers in cancer research. In managing these programs and processes, this position will work with faculty to promote the training and success of students. This position will contribute to coordination and writing the training and education section of proposals for internal and external funding. Additional areas of responsibility include contributing to and accessing the cancer student recruitment process, incorporating the plan for education and diversity (PED), professional development, and marketing (in alignment with Purdue University’s master brand) of trainee programs.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in higher education or a related field
- Four (4) years of experience in project/program management, higher education student affairs, academic advising, student services, or related field required
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills with competence in building strong work relationships
- Ability to represent the University with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy at all levels
- Ability to take the initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility, and meet deadlines
- Ability to be creative, detail-oriented, and adept at functioning independently
- Ability to handle interruptions, balance multiple and varied tasks, and handle confidential information with discretion
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and administer academic policy as necessary
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, students, and staff
- Must have excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and resolve conflict
- Basic skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in higher education or a related field
- Experience with student records, maintenance, reporting, and tracking student milestones and accomplishments in programs, and/or higher education
- Experience with graduate students
- Proficiency with computer and student records management
- Knowledge of higher education policy, trends, and demands as they pertain to graduate education
- Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University
- Familiarity with MyPurdue, Banner, COGNOS, Cascade
