Term Assistant Professor, Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience
The George Mason University Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience (IPN) invites applications for a Term Assistant Professor position beginning August 2023. This is a full-time, teaching-focused, non-tenure track, nine-month faculty appointment with full benefits and opportunity for multiyear contracts and promotion. Responsibilities:

We are a growing program with diverse students and faculty. We are looking for an enthusiastic, student-centered colleague that will teach and develop advanced undergraduate and graduate neuroscience courses to contribute to the expansion of the program. Specific duties include teaching a standard course load (typically 4:4 or 3:3 if you serve as an academic advisor). Courses may include introductory neuroscience, core neuroscience courses and lecture or laboratory courses in the individual’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will assist with program duties such as academic advising, program development, committee work, and new student events. This is a great opportunity for an energetic and collaborative scholar who especially enjoys teaching and working with undergraduates. Course reductions may be available for administrative duties or new course development.
Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology or a related field prior to the first day of work; potential for excellent teaching and capacity for course and laboratory development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant teaching credentials and/or postdoctoral training desirable; and
  • Experience and willingness to teach courses in computational neuroscience, general neuroscience, research experience courses, and/or other upper-level courses in the applicant’s area of expertise.
