Job Overview

The Graduate College is seeking a Program Manager to enhance support for graduate students and bolster graduate student success. We are looking for a team member with strong organizational, planning, and time management skills to assist in the development, planning, and implementation of graduate student professional development programmatic efforts. The Program Manager will support graduate students through campus programming, educational efforts, and coordinating with the Graduate College's campus partners (e.g., CAPS, Academic Writing Center, experience based learning, career education, disability services, research office). This person will have a firm understanding of opportunities that build transferable skills for alt-ac and academic jobs.

 

The Program Manager will also oversee the graduate student learning communities (similar to the idea of communities of practice). In addition, they will support student organizations as well as design and facilitate experiential training for the campus community. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to build relationships across cultures with graduate students, faculty/staff, and community members. This professional will cultivate relationships as they provide an inclusive and engaging environment for students that supports the mission of the university.

 

This position may require occasional evening and weekend availability to support Graduate College programs, events, and initiatives. 


Essential Functions
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and programming support to the Leadership Team, assist in program and event planning, support office operations, organize and analyze data, and prepare surveys, reports, outreach materials, and other correspondence.
  • Serve as a point person and liaison to facilitate communication and collaboration among multiple units and constituents involved in delivering programs that support career exploration and professional development for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, and ensure the Graduate College and its professional development offices are consistently represented in a positive, professional manner.
  • Demonstrating initiative, independent decision-making, and a high level of professionalism, provide event management and support for graduate student and postdoctoral scholar events in the Preparing Future Faculty, and Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Collaborating with other Graduate School administrative staff to facilitate event planning. 
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate outstanding customer service skills and be comfortable working in a fluid environment that serves a diverse array of constituent groups.
  • They must also be able to work with a high degree of accuracy and handle confidential material per university policies and federal regulations.
  • Facilitate graduate student learning communities
  • Develop and manage programming with respect to mental health, finances, mentorship, career development, careers outside of academia, research and ethics, and physical health.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
