Tenure Track or Research-track Faculty in Microbiome

Job Description


Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry is seeking researchers for a tenure-track or tenure position in the microbiome, with a particular focus on the oral microbiome, proteome, transcriptome, and epigenome (multi-omics data). The appointed faculty will be part of a multidisciplinary research team that investigates the multifaceted aspects of the oral microbiome associated with oral diseases including dental caries, periodontitis and oral cancer.

The faculty must have experience in the application of in vitro and rodent models to mechanistically validate oral microbiome studies. Candidates with expertise in the use of artificial intelligence in analysis of microbiome data will be preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in microbiome research with at least one year of postdoctoral research experience related to the microbiome, a demonstrated record of significant research, the potential to make substantial contributions as an independent investigator, and a commitment to teaching professional, undergraduate, and graduate students.
  • Applicants must have expertise in the life sciences, or public health, or computer sciences with preferably strong background in computational biology, genomic analysis and general life sciences, and health research.
  • Experience with in vitro and animal models to conduct mechanistic studies on the role of microbiome in dental caries
  • Preferably, the candidate should have expertise in bioinformatics and analysis of complex data.

Preferences

Preference will be given to applicants in collaboration with other researchers in the US and/ or other countries, especially on oral health and systemic health projects. Successful candidates will become part of a network of multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research teams with relevant schools and colleges of Temple University. Research laboratory space and start-up package will be available.

Successful candidates will have primary responsibility for building a strong research program in oral health. Responsibilities will also include didactic teaching and service. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and research production. Successful candidates will also be considered for senior administrative leadership positions at the school.
