We are looking for a Full-Time Research Coordinator III to join the UTHealth-CPRIT (Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas) Innovation in Cancer Prevention Research Training Program as part of the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX 77030. This Program is a partnership across UTHealth-Houston Schools, with co-directors at the School of Public Health, School of Biomedical Informatics, and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Position Summary:

Assists with the day-to-day administrative project management for the UTHealth-CPRIT (Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas) Innovation in Cancer Prevention Research Training Program.  This Program is a partnership across UTHealth-Houston Schools, with co-directors at the School of Public Health, School of Biomedical Informatics, and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.  The Program is administered through the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research at the School of Public health.

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides day-to-day project management and coordination for the Training Grant to include pre and postdoctoral fellows, summer undergraduates, mentors, faculty directors, facilities, and supplies.
  • Collects data from the trainees for annual progress reports and grants and work closely with Dr. Mullen and grants administration Unit 2 and the UTHealth Office of Sponsored Projects and CPRIT in completing all required forms on time.
  • Assists with the preparation of budgets in compliance with UTHealth and CPRIT requirements, monitors expenditures and balances and initiates re-budgeting requests and payments based on UTHealth/Unit 2 administrative procedures. 
  • Maintains the website, drafts and distributes advertisements for new fellows, monitors the Training Grant e-mail addresses, and manages applications and the selection and appointment processes for pre- and postdoctoral fellows and summer undergraduates.
  • Coordinates meetings of Training Grant Directors, fellows’ presentations to the Executive Committee, the spring and fall seminars for trainees, and the summer undergraduate program.
  • Manages appointments and terminations of new fellows, including summer undergraduates, following Grant protocols.
  • Assists with arrangements, including the class Canvas, for the fellowship seminar in Spring and Fall semesters.
  • Assists with selection, onboarding, and meetings for the Summer Program.    
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Certification/Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong working knowledge of MS Office, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of Canva, Qualtrics, and RedCap; experience with training grants and/or students from diverse backgrounds in higher education.

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

 

Physical Requirements:Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents. Security Sensitive:This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
