ASOR Mesopotamian Fellowship
Job Description
American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) awards 1 pre- or postdoctoral scholar for field research concerning ancient Mesopotamia, for up to 1 year. ASOR is related to Boston University (BU). The Mesopotamian Fellowship, with support from The Baghdad Committee on Mesopotamian Civilization (informally known as Baghdad Committee), will mainly sustain steady field research concerning ancient Mesopotamian civilization, carried out in the Middle East. This fellowship is primarily for field research in the Middle East, though consideration of other projects, like travel to archives or museum collections related to Mesopotamian civilization, can also apply. The fellowship recipient will present their research at the ASOR Annual Meeting. Between the conclusion of the fellowship and two months after, the recipient must submit a written report and acknowledge ASOR's support.
Eligibility & Requirements
Pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars are eligible to apply. Applicants must be affiliated with a school that is a corporate member of ASOR OR must obtain individual membership of ASOR. Downloaded cover sheet with project title, abstract, and proof that applicant is enrolled at an ASOR-member school or individual is an ASOR member. Short proposal, includes an outline and a bibliography. Limit: 1,500 words. 3 recommendations. Fellowship time should be continuous, without frequent trips outside the Middle East.
