Responsibilities*

Project Management:

  • Creating policies and procedures
  • Implementing intervention, testing and training protocols

Data Management:

  • Collect primary data (e.g., administer questionnaires, conduct interviews, perform survey research)
  • Perform data management such as creating a database, entering and cleaning data, or merging datasets
  • Conduct preliminary data analysis

Research:

  • Complete study-based functional assessments
  • Complete tele-health and tele-rehab protocols over the phone with subject too distant or ill to travel
  • Recruiting, screening and consenting research subjects, coordinate research activities and other duties as assigned
  • Schedule and attend research team meetings
  • Working with IRB applications, renewals, amendments and adverse event reports
  • Assist with manuscripts, posters, and PowerPoint slide preparation for talks

Required Qualifications*

Research Area Specialist Intermediate:

  • Understanding of basic research procedures, with demonstrated experience in data collection methods and research design.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software, such as Stata, would be beneficial.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required and 4-5 years of experience in a related field

Research Area Specialist Associate

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required and 1-3 years of experience in a related field.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree preferably with a health science or public health focus.
  • Experience in developing and executing research or evaluation programs
  • Experience working with a Geriatric population • Superb interpersonal skills – comfortable speaking with healthcare providers and patients
  • Ability to handle complex projects while managing competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multiple team members
  • Experience with or exposure to the IRB process
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are expected
  • Professional experience in working with vulnerable populations and/or sensitive health issues is strongly desired.
  • Experience in balance, falls, motor and postural control is a plus

Underfill Statement

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
