Business Information Systems Intern

Job Description

Assist Business Information Systems (BIS) section with tasks as assigned including but not limited to application development, computer training and training preparation, data entry, data cleanup, installing software, and troubleshooting end user issues.


Essential Job Functions

  • Under the direction of a BIS resource, assist with application development/coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of applications to satisfy the requirements of one or more user areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation.
  • Participate in system testing for upgrades, enhancements and projects.
  • Assist in data cleanup and data entry.
  • Works closely with rest of BIS support team to enhance their functional understanding of the software and systems.
  • Install software/hardware based on installation instructions.


Education
:

  • Current enrollment in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in one of the following programs of study:
    • Computer Science
    • Information Management
    • Information Systems
    • Information Technology
    • Management Information Systems
    • Software Engineering Technology
  • Candidate must be actively seeking one of the above mentioned degrees and have a class status of junior.

 

Experience Requirements:

  • None required


Certifications and Licensures:

  • Successfully pass a security sensitive background screening Required


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • Basic understanding of relational databases and programming logic.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word desired along with the ability to create custom user documentation).
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, plan, and stay on schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision as well as within a team environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively work with others in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve system problems while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
