Summary

The Assistant to the Head Coach supports the Michigan Football team, head football coach, and families in all areas, including day-to-day operations, scheduling, internal and external communications, and office management. This position will also assist the recruiting and player development departments with special events and projects.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide counsel and guidance to Michigan Football players and staff.
  • Liaison with Michigan Football families.
  • Generate and distribute team news and information.
  • Assist the on-campus recruiting staff with official and unofficial visits.
  • Assist in event planning for all football functions.
  • Manage the head football coach's daily calendar.
  • Responsible for all logistics and scheduling for head coach travel.
  • Plan and facilitate VIP, donor, and guest appointments.
  • Produce content needed by head coach for team meetings and/or staff meetings.
  • Assist with all correspondence, distribution, replies and filing.
  • Assist head coach with personal appearances and off-season engagements.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by head coach.

Required Qualifications*

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in project development and/or office administration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and ability to think on their feet.
  • Compliance/understanding of NCAA, Big Ten, and University of Michigan policies.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with athletic department staff, coaches, and student-athletes.
  • Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills -- verbal and written; excellent problem analysis and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and accuracy; outstanding customer service orientation; adaptability; initiative; and stress tolerance.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends. On-call availability.
