Job Summary

NOTE:  This is a 1-year limited term appointment with the potential to be re-evaluated for an extension.

The person in this role will support the Center’s focus on community engagement and social justice by assisting in coordinating and supporting workshops for students and faculty in co-curricular and curricular settings. They will offer workshop consultation to student organizations, faculty and staff, tailor workshop content as needed, coordinate and manage all aspects of the workshop administration process. They will also provide administrative support to the academic partnerships team, particularly around workshop and data administration.

Responsibilities*

Responsibilities are related to a variety of civic engagement and social justice initiatives/issues utilizing knowledge of relevant theory, current research and best practices in the domains of scholarship on community-engaged teaching and research, civic engagement, student development, reflective practice, faculty engagement, and community partnership.

Student Learning and Curriculum 50%

  • Coordinate student training efforts to enhance Ginsberg’s ability to meet its strategic goals in the areas of student learning, including revising curriculum materials, and developing and implementing ongoing processes and procedures
  • Coordinate the Learning in Community Workshop Series, including identifying topics, working with partners, and  managing workshop logistics
  • Manage all aspects of student workshop administration process including tracking requests, managing communication with requesters and facilitators
  • Support consistency across workshops by helping to tailor workshop content to different learning contexts, maintaining and updating curriculum, and collecting and analyzing data via to inform future programming
  • Conduct research and benchmarking around training and curriculum for students
  • Contribute to Graduate Liaison program (both Academic and Community Engagement Tracks), including ongoing professional development of facilitators and administrative support
  • Supervise and train student interns and student employees

Academic Partnerships Support -- 38%

  • Manage faculty development workshops administrative process including communication with stakeholders and facilitators, data management, and evaluation
  • Support relationships with university partners who seek support for preparing students for community-engaged research, teaching, or service
  • Contribute to regular reporting of academic partnership metrics to support strategic planning and continuous improvement
  • Translate current research to be used for faculty development presentations and consultation resources

Ginsberg Infrastructure & Support  – 10%

  • Participate and contribute to regular information sharing with other members of the Ginsberg team with the goal of working toward collaborative relationships and attaining strategic goals around student preparation and learning
  • Contribute to training and development of Ginsberg student staff
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other Ginsberg team members and partners throughout the University
  • Collect and utilize data to drive decisions
  • Share student and university stories for weekly e-newsletter and other publications
  • Contribute to regular Ginsberg Center staff meetings
  • Participate in Ginsberg Center committees to further the collective work of the unit (e.g. evaluation, student learning, and staff development)
  • Contribute to creating a workplace environment of trust and shared responsibility that reflects the Ginsberg Center’s social justice values
  • Promote the highest standards of the profession in accordance with the principles, ethics, and standards of ACPA, NASPA, Campus
  • Compact, and CAS, as well as established good practice in Student Life
  • Other duties as assigned

Contributions to Student Life, the University, and the Field – 2%

  • Participate in selected SL and University collaborative efforts, programs, and events

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in gender/cultural/area studies, communications, education, or related field or at least two years of professional experience
  • Previous related experience working in student development, student advising and/or leadership development
  • Previous experience with program management

Desired Qualifications*

  • Previous experience in social justice education and facilitation
  • Previous experience supervising student staff
  • Previous experience with service-learning/community engagement models
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining a program budget
  • The ability to identify ways in which technology may be integrated into service delivery to increase efficiencies and meet current student expectations

Financial/Budgetary Responsibility

Provide input and guidance into administration of academic partnerships budget up to $100,000

Working conditions

On occasion could be expected to work evening hours or weekends to support activities

Direct reports

Supervision of student assistants and graduate interns

 

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.

Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.  

Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.

Relocation will not be offered for this position.
