Summary

The Program Advisor provides guidance, support, and learning and development opportunities to over 1500 student organizations at the University of Michigan as a part of the Student Development (SD) team at the Center for Campus Involvement (CCI). Reporting to the Manager for Student Development, you will oversee the Learning and Development portfolio for student organizations at the University of Michigan. You will also help oversee and build programming/engagement opportunities for the IdeaHub, a one-of-a-kind 12,000 sq ft coworking and collaborative space designed exclusively for student organization leaders containing meeting rooms, dance and movement studios, and a creative art studio space. You will oversee 1 graduate intern and 6-8 undergraduate organization peer advisors.

Responsibilities*

Student Development (50%)

  • Provide education, training, and support to student organization leaders through their co-curricular involvement

  • Advise, manage, train, and evaluate graduate interns and student employees who work on the Student Development team

  • Develop partnerships with other University and Student Life departments

Program Development and Implementation (30%)

  • Serve as the lead for the Student Organization Learning and Development portfolio, overseeing and creating engagement opportunities and programming for 1500+ student organizations

  • Create programming/initiatives to promote cross-student organization collaboration

Space and Budget Management (10%)

  • Serve on the management team for the IdeaHub, a 12,000 sq ft collaborative open working space for student organization leaders located in the Michigan Union

  • Oversee a programmatic budget of approximately $4,000 and support in the oversight of a greater $100,000+ budget encompassing student employee pay, operating costs, and miscellaneous expenses

Assessment (10%)

  • Use data-driven decision making to inform work, including how programs and services meets equitable needs of student populations

  • Conduct assessment of student learning as it relates to Student Life learning outcomes

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 1 year experience with co-curricular student involvement as a student or professional

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Affairs or related field
  • Minimum 2+ years experience with co-curricular student involvement as a student or professional
  • An understanding of and commitment to the college union philosophy
