Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Under direct supervision, this position serves as a key central point of contact for students, parents, staff, and faculty pertaining to student enrollment in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). The position offers expertise in the SHIP plan design and enrollment and waiver policies, and will facilitate all administrative functions regarding SHIP set-up, waivers, eligibility, enrollment, and customer care. This includes responsibility for processing new data or changes into the various systems, answering waivers, eligibility, benefit, and enrollment questions, verifying status, and reconciling discrepancies. In addition to working closely with Plan Administrators staff, the position will liaise with staff from the Office of the Dean of Students, Risk and Insurance Management, and the Student Health Center. This position will be located on the campus, but will allow for up to three days remote work at home per week, depending upon campus needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelors degree.

Experience:
Two years experience in administrative staff work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Elementary knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information; of basic methods and techniques used in organizing and conducting studies and analyses or programs, procedures, and organizations; of basic analytical and statistical principles and techniques. 
  • Skill in the use of office automation software and its application; in operating manual and automated office equipment. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

  • 3+ years Previous customer service and data entry experience preferred.
  • PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
    Sound problem solving skills.
  • Accounting and health insurance experience a plus.
