Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled physician to join the Medicine Service at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS) as a faculty member in Infectious Diseases. This individual will provide patient care that takes place in the outpatient ID clinics and the inpatient consultation service at the VAAAHS and will lead the antimicrobial stewardship program at the VAAAHS. The candidate will be expected to conduct research and teach medical students, internal medicine house officers, ID fellows, and other ID trainees. The candidate must be certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in ID and qualify for and hold a faculty appointment with the University of Michigan, Division of Infectious Diseases. The candidate will contribute to achieving quality-of-care and access-to-care standards, process improvement, personnel management, and patient satisfaction involving the ID program at the VAAAHS. The candidate will ideally have an interest and experience in Antimicrobial Stewardship, as well as an aptitude for mentoring others in academic medicine.

The candidate will also be faculty within the University of Michigan Division of Infectious Diseases, a nationally recognized Division with impressive breadth and depth of clinical programs and scholarship. The Division consists of 42 faculty members, over $12 million in annual grant funding, 3 members of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, 2 members of the Association of American Physicians, 1 member of the National Academy of Medicine, and 1 Master of the American College of Physicians. Member of the Division serves as Editor-in-Chief of JCI Insight.

Required Qualifications*

The ideal candidate will have an M.D. degree, postgraduate clinical training, and experience in infectious diseases. They should hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan. Candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with other clinicians. Good oral and written communication skills are essential. Evidence of clinical competence and experience teaching in a clinical and didactic setting is expected.
