Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of audit compliance, internal control, and budgeting ;
2. Ability to work with administrators, staff, and faculty at all levels;
3. Ability to provide logical, fiscal, and compliance reports and recommendations to the Vice President, Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and the Vice President, Chief Institutional Advancement Officer (CIAO), and college administration;
4. Understanding of governmental fund accounting and accounting for educational institutions;
5. Understanding of the North Carolina Community College System, NCCCS State Board Code, and related federal, state, and local rules and regulations;
6. Experience with large federal grants;
7. Excellent computer skills as evidenced by experience with at least one data analysis/business intelligence software product (such as Foundation accounting systems preferred) and competence with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
8. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication/public relations skills;
9. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills;
10. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
11. Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action;
12. Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality, and;
13. Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.

Essential Functions
The Grants Accountant is responsible for accounting functions related to grant programs and fosters continuous improvement in Foundation and Business Office processes by ensuring that college personnel understands Federal/State grant requirements.
Job Duties
- Foster continuous improvement in Foundation and Business Office processes by ensuring that college personnel understand Federal/State grant requirements;
- Works with the grant writer to review grant proposal budgets and ensure that business office grant accounting matches foundation accounting;
- Work with division Vice Presidents to review new and ongoing gifts, grants, and criteria for disbursement and use;
- Provide individualized or targeted information/training to college (Principal Investigator) PI personnel;
- Document and develop Foundation and Business office grant procedures;
- Perform financial and compliance testing of internal controls;
- Perform compliance and investigative audits within the Foundation office and in collaboration with the Business office;
- Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations to guide the Foundation office toward compliance;
- Review audit findings and recommendations to determine that action occurred;
- Assist with the accounting functions related to grant programs and other special project accounts;
- Assist Program Managers and PIs in the financial reporting and other administrative requirements of their grants;
- Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of all applicable fiscal reports; and
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by the Vice President, CIAO.

Required Working Hours
