Host - Legends (Part Time)Job Description
The University of Notre Dame Enterprises and Events (UEE) division is currently hiring for the position of Host within Legends. The UEE division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives.
Why this position?
The Host at Legends is responsible for: acknowledging, welcoming, and greeting all guests, information gathering for the front and back of house team members, seating guests, monitoring seating arrangements to optimize the dining experience, pacing of the service team, and for the optimal use of the dining room. The Host is responsible for menu presentation, communicating with servers to alert of seated tables, answering phones according to service standards – and for asking A LOT OF questions! This position is also responsible for reservation confirmation, communicating any special notes in a reservation to the server, such as; guest allergies, special occasions, past experiences, etc., and for observing and responding to guests in the lobby, restaurant, and terrace to anticipate needs and seek opportunities to serve.
The Host is also responsible for documenting details of guest reservations in OpenTable, oversight of coat check/ luggage areas, providing assistance upon guest arrivals and departures, updating guest experience profile each visit and communicating any issues with management, maintaining a clean and presentable workstation at all times (including host podium and coat room), maintaining a continuous presence, acting as the point of reference for guests who need assistance or information, and for personalizing responses to all guests’ inquiries, in order to further identify amenities, programs, activities, and events at the Morris Inn, at Notre Dame, or in South Bend. During all guest interactions, the Host will display a joy for serving others, while demonstrating professionalism, job knowledge, grace, respect, and friendliness.

This position is with University Enterprises and Events at the University of Notre Dame and is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus (1/2 paid after 90 and 180 days of continuous employment). Candidates are only eligible if they are a new employee to the University – current Notre Dame employees who transfer are not eligible. Other rules and conditions apply.
