The North Carolina Plant Sciences Initiative (N.C. PSI) is the global home for plant science innovation. N.C. This position will serve as a temporary Events Manager, reporting to the Director of Operations.
The candidate will work with N.C. PSI leadership, faculty, communications and administrative staff, campus stakeholders and external partners to manage all events, from start to finish, that take place at the new, state-of-the-art Plant Sciences Building.
The term of this position is for six months, with a possibility for extension beyond the period for successful performance.

Primary Responsibilities:
This is a front-facing, visible role that will work independently with faculty, staff and external partners at all levels. Specifically, this position will be responsible for the management, coordination and successful execution of all N.C. PSI sponsored events and approved external events ranging from small meetings to large scale events. Events include seminar series, webinars, workshops, community social hours and game nights, industry partner breakfasts, and more. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Organizing contracts with internal and external partners and vendors
  • Manage logistics for all events including but not limited to event space request, online registration for attendees, coordination of vendors, space layout/setup and technology needs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with various campus staff and departments for event needs including but not limited to parking, developing event materials, A/V requests and submitting events to appropriate University calendars.
  • Planning and executing all internal PSI community events
  • Working with the communications team to promote events to appropriate target audiences
  • Evaluating each event through attendee feedback and compiling data to measure ROI and track attendance.
  • Fostering a strong community within N.C. PSI that others want to be a part of

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Experience in event management
  • Communications or marketing experience
  • Photography and/or videography experience

  • Valid driver’s license
