Makerspace Student Advisors provide excellent customer service and assist patrons with specialized technology needs in the D.H. Hill Library Makerspace. Students will staff the Makerspace, helping users with technologies such as 3D printing and scanning, electronics prototyping, sewing, and more. They will also be responsible for greeting visitors, answering questions and providing introductions to the Makerspace, as well as handling sales of materials supplies to patrons. Students will also work on projects to support the space, including developing and teaching workshops, and exploring new technologies.
Makerspace Student Advisors must be capable of committing Makerspace policies and procedures to memory, and be comfortable working without continuous supervision. Students should be comfortable interacting with a variety of patrons coming from all academic disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
Consideration and work schedule will be based on availability; may include nights, weekends, and University holidays. Some moderate lifting, up to 30lbs, may be required.

Students need not be from a technical major, but should have experience and skills in one or more of these areas: electronics prototyping, 3D design and fabrication, sewing and textiles, or other types of making. Software and hardware skills should include some combination of: Adobe Creative Suite; 3D modeling/creation tools (SolidWorks, Autodesk apps, CAM software); Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or other microcontrollers; 3D scanning; photography; sewing machines and weaving, CNC machines, the Internet of Things.
