Summary of Position

The Web Communications Specialist, a member of the Software Development Client Services team, works collaboratively with administrative and academic departments and partners across USNH to provide ongoing support and training for websites and software applications. This role requires excellent customer service skills with the ability to apply critical thinking to analyze and determine solutions for client requests, as well as a strong focus on user experience, accessibility, search engine optimization and analytics. Must be comfortable multi-tasking to manage incoming requests while also working on various web projects.

Other minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in information technology field; associate and 6
  • years; or combination of education and experience equal to 8 years.
  • Experience with HTML5, Drupal or WordPress content management systems.
  • Experience posting and laying out content including setting up landing pages, using site
  • templates, and updating text and copy.
  • Strong analytical skills to translate client problems into appropriate technical solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of information architecture, UI/UX, cross-browser compatibility, ADA and
  • general web standards

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education, learning or nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience with Google applications including Analytics, Tag Manager, Looker Studio and
  • Marketing Platform a plus.

Duty/Responsibility

Website Configuration and Design:
  • Assist with development, design and updates to websites, collaborating cross-departmentally with a focus on creating a consistent look and feel and optimal usability for multiple audiences. Address information architecture, UX and SEO, and ensure compliance with USNH web policies, accessibility and other standards.
  • Manage daily project operations as assigned. Remain current with new and emerging technologies in web development and online communication technologies. Analyze data and prepare reports on usage of websites to identify successes and weaknesses.

Duty/Responsibility

Client Relations and Support:
Provide customer support by assisting and advising clients concerning the implementation of technology appropriate for their needs; respond to clients’ information technology problems; resolve problems as assigned and coordinate assistance to resolve problems when needed; explore and recommend a comprehensive range of solutions for a broad audience.

Training & Documentation:
  • In collaboration with USNH colleagues, plan, develop and provide training for website applications, services and tools supported by Software Development. Formats may include online tutorials, classroom sessions and one-on-one support.
  • Develop, maintain and publish end-user documentation and training with an emphasis on online self-help. This may include online articles and short video tutorials.
  • Manage accounts contact lists, financial records, reports and other operational and client information. Familiarity with document management systems and repositories such as SharePoint a plus.
