Job Description
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead the creative team by clearly communicating design concepts, mentoring and teaching design principles, color development and design ethos as needed, while leading by example.
2. Inspires the creative team to more advanced and better work using brainstorming sessions, team meetings or other strategic tools.
3. Enforces deadlines and maintains efficiency in the creative department.
4. Perform graphic design, page layout and related duties as assigned.
5. Assist the Director of Communications and Marketing in developing cohesive and productive goals for the department.
6. Lead the effort in the creation of all marketing, creative, communications and digital campaigns.
7. Transform rough ideas and general concepts into actions, projects and completed products.
8. Develop concepts by studying information and materials submitted by employees via the project management system.
9. Assist web services with graphic support as requested.
10. Ensure that all projects and campaigns meet brand standards and that materials are consistent.
11. Manage multiple projects and deadlines.
12. Assist with the coordination and interface with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Central Printing in the design and production of print projects.
13. Maintain consistent branding across video, audio and other digital media.
14. Anticipate the future direction of the industry using both research and own insight, and brings the Institutional Advancement department into the fore of that trajectory.
15. Maintain an accurate and complete archival system.
16. Maintain all video and production equipment.
17. Participate in the departmental planning and achievement of college institutional commitments.
18. Evaluate current status of industry and the market to ensure delivery of relevant and useful projects, messages or branding.
19. Represent the Institutional Advancement department with courtesy, respect and commitment to excellent customer service.
20. Assist with special events as assigned.
21. Make recommendations to the Director of Communications and Marketing for acquisition of new hardware, software or other equipment related to performance of duties.
22. Maintain an effective working relationship with college personnel, students and the community.
23. Process telephone calls internally and externally in an effective and timely manner.
24. Upgrade skills level and performance through professional development.
25. Demonstrate exceptional adherence to work schedules and office hours and be available to work a flexible work schedule as needed.
26. Adhere to all College policies and procedures.
27. Other duties as assigned.

 
Job Duties
The Creative Officer (CO) has a broad range of responsibilities that promote and advance Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s mission and goals. The CO will assist the Chief Creative Officer in leading the creative team in developing fresh, compelling, eye-catching looks that set MGCCC apart. The CO will work closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to ensure all projects are delivered within projected parameters. The CO will also provide support for special projects and events as directed by the Director of Communications and Marketing.

 
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Bachelor’s Degree in related field or 10 years of equivalent experience. (M2) Strong written, interpersonal, presentation and oral communications skills. (M3) Familiarity with Windows operating system and ability to work in a networked environment.

 
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Brand campaign concept and development experience. (D2) Experience in Web-based graphic design. (D3) Experience working with After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite including Flash ActionScript.
