Financial Services Intern

Job Description

This is a contract position for one year with the possibility of extension and is designed to provide the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of University financial management, purchasing, payroll and general administration duties in a variety of environments.

The College Financial Services Intern will receive initial training from the central College Personnel Office and university training modules and rotate through a variety of departments within the College's North Campus (Social Sciences and Humanities Divisions). The rotation through departments will be chosen for training and career growth and will be closely monitored by the Executive Director of Projects and Resource Management. The incumbent is to fill in for staff on leave or vacancies in departments within North Campus and provide backup payroll, purchasing, fund management and general administrative support.

Under close supervision, the incumbent will: work on projects, streamline and standardize processes, create training manuals and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. The incumbent will successfully complete appropriate training courses offered by the College HR office, university modules, and will also be trained directly by department managers and staff.

The selected candidate will gain valuable skills to be competitive for future career opportunities within UCLA North Campus units.

Required/Preferred

Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to prioritize job functions to meet deadlines, ensure smooth workflow and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with equanimity.

Knowledge of UCLA online software programs including Bruinbuy, Travel Express, Facilities Service Request, Telecommunications Service Request systems, UCLA Online Financial System, and UCPath.

Ability to work flexible schedule, as dictated by operational needs.
