About the Department
The Physiology Graduate Program provides both Master’s and Doctoral Programs and has a current student population of approximately 65 students. The program will be managed from the Poultry Science Department in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and will be served by the director and the Graduate Services Coordinator.
Essential Job Duties
This position will support recruitment, retention, and student success in the Graduate Physiology Program. The successful candidate will answer general questions regarding the Physiology Program to applicants, and attend pre-health fairs. They will channel applicants from the slate application software to the DGP for review and will arrange interviews with the applicants for the DGP. They will liaison with the Graduate School regarding policy. This position will also process student documents regarding student programs (late adds/drops, leave of absence, plans of work), and actively interface with the students to ensure timely degree completion. They will provide DGP updates regarding applicant numbers, student progress, and student academic progress on an as-needed basis.
Job Duties:
1. Process Physiology admissions applications, collect all necessary documents and submit the materials and recommendations to the Graduate School.
2. Prompts Physiology students to meet critical Graduate School deadlines, such as preparing Plans of Graduate Work, appointing committees, adding and dropping courses, maintaining continuous registering, filing for diploma cards, preparing for Option B checkouts, and requesting the scheduling of oral exams.
3. Assist Physiology students and Physiology DGP in preparing and forwarding to the Graduate School Work, appointing requests of leave of absence, Plans of Graduate Work, committee appointments, Requests for Permits to Schedule the Master’s Final Examination, Requests to Schedule the Master’s Final Examination, Requests to Schedule Doctoral Oral Examinations, grade changes, transfer requests, reinstatements, and any other materials requiring approval by the Graduate School.
4. Develops proficiency in using the Student Information System (SIS), the Graduate School Information Systems databases, and other information systems to facilitate all graduate student-related correspondence with the Graduate School.
5. Assist Physiology Director with recruitment activities, program events, and researching and preparing data for reporting purposes.
6. Serve as primary contact for prospective Physiology applicants and current students. Counsel Physiology students in successful progress toward degree.
7. Any other Duties at the discretion of the Physiology Director of Graduate Programs.

Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- The candidate must also have excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for student success with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task producing high quality and professional work product, and working knowledge of trends and issues in professional health admissions and careers.
- The candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends, as needed, for annual events such as orientation and graduation as well as assist graduate student association with speakers and events.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Slate is a plus.
- Knowledge of Google, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint etc.
- Bachelor’s degree and experience with Student Information Systems, web editing software, event planning, and counseling students preferred.
