Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

We are seeking to recruit a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to compliment the Research and Teaching enterprises of our Department. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program in the area of reproductive biology. All successful candidates will be expected to conduct research in an agriculturally-relevant species. Candidates will be required to establish and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program and contribute to the educational mission of the department through teaching of an undergraduate reproduction course and contributing to graduate courses. Ample opportunities exist for collaborations with faculty members in the Department and across Campus, including through the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources’ Strategic Initiatives (https://agnr.umd.edu/about/strategic-initiatives) and through the MPowering the State Initiative with the University of Maryland, Baltimore, as part of the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership (https://mpower.maryland.edu/). Minimum Qualifications:

A doctorate in Animal Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, or a related discipline, and experience in agriculturally-relevant research and teaching.

Preferences:

Preferred qualifications are possessing postdoctoral experience, a demonstrated record of publication, and clear prospects or vision for extramural government, NGO, and/or private industry funding. Research in “Dual-purpose” and “One-Health” areas would be considered favorably, but is not required.
