Job Summary

Under general faculty and Associate Dean supervision the Coordinator 3, Exercise Science will oversee exercise science and practical application labs for the department of Exercise Science. The coordinator will play a crucial role in maintaining, preparing, and instructing protocols for all tools utilized in the department majors and in project-based learning / partnerships associated to the department. The coordinator will assist in departmental and interdepartmental outreach, community engagement, continuing education, and career partners for our graduates. Primary role will be to coordinate lab schedules, supervise course and open labs, maintain instrumentation, develop and implement new lab projects, build and maintain relationships, and find ways to collaborate in and outside of the institution.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Coordinate Lab:
Schedule, supervise course and open labs, maintain instrumentation, develop and implement new lab projects, build and maintain relationships, and find ways to collaborate in and outside of the institution.
  1. Prepare lab materials and equipment for exercise science labs. May involve travel to multiple campuses.
  2. Theoretical and practical knowledge of Exercise Science and exercise design/prescription theories.
  3. Anticipate necessary supplies needed, order necessary supplies and equipment, and maintain supply lists.
  4. Work closely with faculty and laboratory instructors in teaching proper lab procedures.
  5. Maintain an inventory of equipment (including computers).
  6. Working knowledge of Instrumental function and analysis.
    • Body Composition analysis
    • Metabolic Assessment, Aerobic & Anaerobic
    • Lactate Analysis
    • Speed/Agility/Hand-eye tools
    • Biomechanical Analysis
    • Health biometrics
    • General computer/software/Excel/analysis tools
  7. Help set up labs for Faculty.
  • Run open labs.
  • Collaboration across institution and partnerships.

  • Instruct/teach lab procedures and proper tool usage.
  • Degree collaboration and outreach.
  • Event coordination and management for department, institution, and community.

Other duties as assigned.




Preferred Qualifications

Advanced college degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
One (1) year full-time teaching or pro-rated experience if teaching was part-time.

ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist Credential.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology or related field.
Four (4) to six (6) years direct, paid, full-time experience OR graduate research/projects in related areas.
Laboratory experience in industry or academic setting.

ACSM Exercise is Medicine (EIM) Credential.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Exercise Science/Sport Science.
  • Knowledge of computers, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Administrative and management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in academic teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
