Position Summary

This Is An At-Will Position For Which The Attainment of Non-Probationary Status (Tenure) is not available. Continued Employment Contingent Upon Funding.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES:

  • Provide assistance to students seeking help in Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) and the Cardinal Tutoring Center (CTC), including individual and group instruction and tutoring
  • Monitor and track the educational plan of each participant instructed/tutored
  • Maintain open communication with veterans and CTC students
  • Maintain records of pre- and post-testing in order to evaluate progress and improvement
  • Utilize various educational software platforms including ThinkingStorm, Blackboard and Zoom for participating in online tutoring sessions, maintaining all student records and tutor evaluation
  • Develop and implement new curriculum in line with the needs of the program participants
  • Assist with the implementation of the embedded tutor program in conjunction with the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP)
  • Participate in outreach and recruitment of students to expand the CTC and VUB programs by attending events, speaking to classes and with the use of social media
  • Perform clerical duties as needed.
  • Participate in and complete all department professional development initiatives.
  • Serve on committees.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, College events, and graduation.
  • Pursue continued professional development.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in education.

DESIRED PROFILE:
  • Master’s degree in education or related field.
  • Experience in tutoring and outcome-based curriculum development.
  • Experience in use of technology including tutoring software, testing programs and social media.
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations including academically and economically disadvantaged individuals or veterans.
  • Competency in the use of current educational technologies.
  • Experience with internet courses.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the community college mission.
  • Successful problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to deal effectively with students, other employees, and the public.

PROJECTED STARTING DATE:
January 3, 2023

SALARY:
Salary Schedule C3 $35,000 - $45,000 (12 months), based on education and experience .
