Job Description

Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) System has an immediate opening for a full-time Accountant. The Accountant reviews daily accounting reports; prepares daily cash analysis; maintains monthly analysis of accounts, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, student accounts; and provides other financial and budget analyses as necessary. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent accounting, budgeting, analytical and communication skills; working knowledge of spreadsheet applications; commitment to team approach and ability to work effectively with a diverse population. Professional staff are expected to advance the College's focus on student success and completion and will work closely with the College's leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

Required: Associate's Degree in Accounting, a minimum of three years of professional accounting/auditing experience, and enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program which must be completed in three years or a Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in finance, accounting, business administration or a related area and three years of professional accounting/auditing experience.

Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree; experience in government and/or education fund accounting and auditing; experience with Title IV financial aid policy and procedures; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel; and familiarity with complex integrated accounting systems, which include A/R, A/P, purchasing, fixed assets and student information systems, such as Banner.
