Post-Doctoral Fellow, Breast Cancer Epidemiology

American Cancer Society

Job Description

The Population Science Department invites applications for a post-doctoral research fellowship in breast cancer epidemiology. Candidates with an interest in breast cancer prevention or survivorship research are encouraged to apply. Drawing on the expertise and mentorship of epidemiologists and behavioral scientists in the Society’s Population Science Department, the fellow will design and establish an innovative and independent research portfolio that aligns with the Society’s mission and research priorities. The fellow will have access to rich research resources from the Cancer Prevention Studies (CPS)—large prospective studies with extensive data, including survey, biospecimen, Medicare, GIS linkages, and accelerometry.

The program is designed to train fellows to become independent yet highly collaborative researchers. Fellows will publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, present their work at scientific meetings, contribute to the foundational scientific resources of the CPS cohorts, and help shape future CPS surveys and data collection efforts. Capitalizing on the community-facing environment at the American Cancer Society, fellows will learn to translate and communicate their findings to the general public and the media.

This position is available immediately and is based at the American Cancer Society’s Research Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The fellow will receive funds for specialized training, conference travel, and biospecimen-based laboratory measurements or pilot studies involving new data collection, as applicable.
