Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Department of Management within the Cameron School of Business at the University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks applicants for a full-time Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship & Business Development, starting in January or August 2023. This position is a term limited contract through May 2024 with a potential to renew for an additional academic year.

This is a non-tenure track position with an expectation for research productivity and service. Teaching expectation includes 3 upper-level courses in entrepreneurship and management-related topics each Fall and Spring semester (6 courses total) and leading student-centered activities supporting the Entrepreneurship & Business Development (EBD) curriculum.
We have a particular interest in candidates with practical experience/expertise with corporate venturing and/or global entrepreneurship.

This position requires significant student-centered service to the Entrepreneurship and Business Development concentration, as well as service to the department and business school.

Core position expectations:
  • Teach 6 entrepreneurship and/or management courses per academic year or other courses as assigned by the department chair; courses will be upper undergraduate-level and possibly MBA courses and will typically require a traditional in-person format
  • Service to the EBD program, Management Department, and Cameron School and/or as assigned by the department chair, particularly focusing on efforts to develop the EBD program to broaden the student experience and nurturing community/practitioner connections such as with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) and Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC).
  • Engagement in research and professional activities sufficient to maintain status as Scholarly Academic or Scholarly Practitioner per the Cameron School of Business Workload Policy

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • PhD, DBA, or doctoral degree in a business-related discipline
  • 3+ years experience teaching entrepreneurship, management, or related courses OR working with students in a significant advisory capacity at a university-level entrepreneurship center/program
  • 3+ years of applied entrepreneurial/business-development experience

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
  • PhD or DBA with an emphasis in entrepreneurship-related content;
  • five or more years of experience in entrepreneurial-related ventures;
  • experience teaching college-level courses in entrepreneurship, business development, management, or related disciplines in both traditional and online formats; and
  • a demonstrated interest in leading student-centered activities.

The Management Department supports the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and has concentrations in Management and Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Human Resource Management.
