Job Description

post-doctoral scholar position is available in Dr. Emily Weinert’s research lab within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University . The Weinert Lab conducts research into the mechanisms of bacterial environmental sensing and signaling using techniques from chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Responsibilities will include day-to-day coordination of a team of research scientists that includes postdocs, graduate students, technicians, and undergraduates; providing intellectual leadership in experimental design, execution, and interpretation of results; writing publications and assisting with research grants. This person will also assist with assuring scientific rigor, consistency, and record keeping within the lab, and is expected to participate in all aspects of the lab including research and education. Candidates must understand biochemistry, metabolomics, signaling, and microbiology at an advanced level, have an advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) and training in at least two of the scientific areas.
