Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Center for Advanced Biotechnology & Medicine (CABM) within Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research on characterizing non-coding regulatory elements in humans and understanding how these elements change across different conditions. The project will involve developing new modeling approaches for coupling functional genomics techniques with computational analyses to understand gene regulation in health and disease. Such models are based on multi-omics high-throughput assays, either performed by the Postdoctoral Fellow or by others in the research group, by collaborators in other groups or from publicly available datasets. The project may also involve use and development of software programs for analysis of multi-dimensional epigenetic, transcriptomic, genetic and functional genomics data. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to participate in the configuration and maintenance of data bases necessary for conduct of the project. It is expected that research will lead to publications and the Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to prepare manuscripts as well as contribute to the preparation of grant and fellowship applications. The fellow will also be expected to guide the research project of undergraduate research assistants. This is a grant-funded position contingent on the availability of funds to support it.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Developing computational frameworks for coupling functional genomics techniques with computational analyses to understand gene regulation in health and disease. Such models incorporate multi-omics high-throughput assays such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, MPRA, PC-HiC.
  • Participate in the configuration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, including computers and servers, necessary for conduct of the project.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication, and contribute to the preparation of research grant and fellowship applications.
  • Supervise and guide the research projects of undergraduate research assistants.
