Job Summary

The Administrative Specialist I – TRIO Talent Search position is responsible for providing senior-level clerical, administrative, and project support for the Talent Search program. This position may serve as the primary point of operational and administrative contact for internal and external constituencies, often on complex and confidential issues. This position is expected to have a high level of TRIO Program-specific knowledge.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Performs senior-level administrative and technical functions for the unit
  • Makes technical decisions by applying policies, regulations, and protocol
  • Organizes unit events
  • Manages external stakeholders
  • Performs high-level, unit-specific tasks
  • Involved with Budget and Grant Management
  • Schedules appointments and maintains calendars
  • Prepares and creates memos, emails, invoices, reports, etc.
  • Performs assigned duties

Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Vice President of Student Affairs

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree of 60 hours and two (2) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combinative education, training, or certification, and related to the Essential Performance Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a college or university setting
  • Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting program participants
  • Experience with social media, desktop publishing, and website maintenance and/or design

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships with diverse populations, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
  • Skilled using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of program information and materials
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly while exhibiting strong attention to detail, planning, and organization
