Summary

The Brunaugh Lab at the College of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences Department is seeking a qualified post-doctoral research fellow to join our team. The Brunaugh Lab is working to understand, model and overcome barriers to inhaled drug delivery to improve therapeutic outcomes in lung infections, acute lung injury, and chronic inflammatory lung diseases. The post-doctoral fellow will work closely with an industry sponsor to characterize and optimize inhaled drug product perfomance.

What You'll Do

The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for preparing inhaled powder formulations using several different particle engineering techniques, characterizing particle/powder properties bulk, surface, and aerodynamic properties using several different techniques, including inverse gas chromatography, examining capsule physicochemical characteristics using a variety of analytical techniques, and performing extensive exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling to develop predictive models for to optimize the performance of inhaled drug products. The post-doctoral fellow will also serve a mentorship role by supervising undergraduate and graduate researchers and will play a major role in drafting manuscripts relating to the project.

Required Qualifications*

Education requirements:

  • PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, bioinformatics or related fields, including completion of courses related to multivariate statistics.

Skills/knowledge requirements:

  •  At least 2 years experience developing, optimizing, and implementing high pressure liquid chromatography methods. Experience in exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling as evident by prior publications. At least 2 years coding experience using Python, R or a similar program. Ability to work independently. Ability to quickly learn new techniques and work carefully and diligently in data collection. Strong publication record.

Desired Qualifications*

Familiarity with spray drying. Familiarity with pharmaceutical particle/powder characterization techniques, such as laser diffraction, cascade impaction, dynamic powder flow, scanning electron microscop.
