Responsibilities*

  • Manage complex calendars and set up appointments for division appointed faculty.
  • Serve as back up administrative support contact for division chief of Genetic Medicine.
  • Prepare/edit correspondence of the division faculty behalf using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various other university platforms.
  • Process reimbursements, reconcile reports and place marketsite and office supply orders for assigned genetic counselors and faculty.
  • Prepare/submit travel arrangements on behalf of faculty
  • Coordinate hosting events, maintain files for division, reserve conference rooms for assigned team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

Administrative Assistant Intermediate

The intermediate level requires a minimum of 2 years of experience providing general administrative support to a department or group of professionals, and a high school diploma or equivalent. 

Administrative Assistant Senior

Four years of experience supporting faculty or management. High school diploma or equivalent. 

Desired Qualifications*

Working knowledge of medical terminology and university policies and procedures. Advanced education preferred.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
