Job Description

Summary

The EpiBayes research group, led by Dr. Jon Zelner in the Dept. of Epidemiology and Center for Social Epidemiology and Population Health (CSEPH) at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, seeks a research staff member who will be an integral member of our research group working on a variety of research projects including spatial and network modeling of infectious disease transmission and the analysis of complex, multi-level infectious disease datasets. 

Responsibilities*

  • Collaborate with PIs to develop methods for statistical analysis of spatiotemporal infectious disease datasets. Conducts data analysis and interprets results.

  • Produce simulation modeling of infectious disease transmission.

  • Participate in manuscript writing and poster preparation. Present findings at conferences and other forums.

  • Provide supervision to students and hourly research staff, including training and oversight for data collection and analyses.

  • Collaborate with research group leadership on long-range project planning, grant writing and budget monitoring. Prepares research documents, including  IRB/data use agreements and progress reports to grant funders.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field.

  • 5-6 years of relevant research experience in the network and spatial modeling of infectious disease risk

  • Experience in data management, statistical modeling and data visualization using R.

Desired Qualifications*

  • PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health or related field.

  • Experience running jobs and retrieving results from cluster-based high-performance computing systems.

  • Experience and interest in project coordination/management.

Work Locations

To facilitate integration with our research group and to provide the widest range of opportunities for professional development, our intention is for this position to be filled by someone who will be based primarily in-person at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Additional Information

This position will be term-limited for two years, with possibility for extension based on funding and performance.
