Job Title
Donor Relations Strategies Program DirectorJob Description
The Department of Development is charged with unlocking the grace of giving for alumni, parents, and friends to advance the sacred mission of Notre Dame. The Stewardship & Donor Relations team within Development partners closely with colleagues across the University to steward and cultivate donors toward increased philanthropy. Traditional stewardship programs at Notre Dame consist of gift acknowledgments from University leadership, annual endowment reporting, impact communications, and various forms of public and private recognition. As a supplement to these programs, proactive individualized stewardship plans are designed and implemented for benefactors who have achieved the highest echelon of giving and/or have the capacity to do so. The Donor Relations Strategies unit within the Stewardship & Donor Relations team is responsible for developing these individualized stewardship plans in close collaboration with the assigned fundraisers. The Director, Donor Relations Strategies will enhance the impact of these strategic partnerships by supporting individualized stewardship efforts for the University’s top donors, in addition to focusing his/her efforts on on-boarding and championing best practices in donor relations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with Vice President for University Relations and his associate vice presidents carrying portfolios, as well as higher tiered regional directors to create and manage individualized stewardship plans for principal benefactors and consult on strategic stewardship requests for other key leadership benefactors and prospects within their portfolios.
- Manage an assistant director who is charged with serving as the stewardship partner for a subset of the larger group of front-line fundraisers. Support the Assistant Director in developing and executing comprehensive individualized stewardship plans and/or strategic stewardship touches for key benefactors.
- Provide strategic direction to the Sr. Director for Stewardship & Donor Relations in forecasting dedications ($10MM) and celebrations ($1MM) for qualifying benefactors.
- Execute a variety of assigned individualized stewardship touches for University benefactors (e.g., digital and printed impact communications, custom tokens of appreciation, personalized on-campus experiences, etc.), both independently and in concert with other Stewardship & Donor Relations team members
- Champion and disseminate best practices in stewardship through the facilitation of on-boarding and continued education sessions for members of the Development unit and provision of support for the Stewardship & Donor Relations team’s monthly internal communication to the department
- Provide creative stewardship strategies for transformational asks and resulting gifts.
Our hybrid scheduling with the team and support for your personal and professional priorities makes this role a perfect match for you!
