Responsibilities
- Performs detailed analysis of clinical trial accounts using multiple resources and systems, for decision making of whether charges are billable to insurance or billable to the study.
- Uses Epic and Oncore for charge review and reconciliation
- Reviews and adjusts patient research and standard of care charge data
- Interdepartmental interaction with research study team, Clinical Trials Billing Office, and/or Principal Investigator may be necessary in the decision making process.
- Provides feedback on processes and workflows to help improve timely and accurate billing.
- Assists with the collection of data to be used to provide feedback to the research study teams.
- Learns and understands Epic research functionality and how it is being utilized at Dana-Farber by the research study teams in order to assess workflows associated with the decision making to affect
- Responsible for identifying variances and deviations to the protocol based on the services reviewed and communicating variance to research study team to make the determination as to whether each charge is research related or standard of care.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree preferred. Substitute would be prior experience (2+ years) with clinical research billing.
- Experience with OnCore and/or Epic preferred but not required
- Experience with Microsoft products desirable
- Ability to evaluate the charges in Epic, relative to the Oncore/Epic billing grid, in order to decide whether charges should be billed to research or insurance.
- Ability to apply billing requirements/regulations to the clinical research charge review workflow.
- Detail oriented, with excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to concisely communicate questions and/or issues within the department and to research study teams and Clinical Trials Business Office.
- Ability and desire to learn new software and processes associated with clinical research charging.
- Ability to excel in a team environment along with the ability to work independently, efficiently and effectively
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks on a regular schedule and meet deliverables
